hosts guest gospel group
The Salt River Independent Baptist Church, located at 1126 Salt River Road in Lawrenceburg, will host the southern gospel group “Destiny” from Brownstown, Ind., on March 16 at 6 p.m.
“Come join us for some great southern gospel music and fellowship,” event organizers said in a press release.

Need the light of Christ to drive out the darkness
“…God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5)
Craig Larson tells the story of an old desert nomad who awoke one night to a growling stomach. He lit a candle and began eating dates from a bowl beside his bed. He took a bite from one end and saw a worm in it, so he threw it from the tent. He bit into the second date, found another worm, and threw it away as well.
Thinking that he wouldn’t have any dates left to eat if he continued, he blew out the candle and ate the remaining dates.

The event features guest speaker Jody Apple from Knoxville, Tenn., an instructor at the Southeast Institute of Biblical Studies and a speaker for the radio program “The International Gospel Hour.

to host concert
Fintville Community Church will be hosting a concert on March 3 at 11 a.m.
The concert will feature guest gospel singer Roger Barkley Jr., who is from the Barkley Family Singers, according to event organizers.

Salvisa Christian Church will sponsor a Project Linus Make-A-Blanket Day on Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A potluck lunch will be served.
Participants are asked to bring 1.5 yards of fleece, any color or characters pleasing to children, infants to 18 years of age, and if you can’t bring any fleece, to come anyway.

When perfect Christianity can never be enough
A few weeks ago, I watched a movie on TV called “The Perfect Family.”
Right away, just by the title, you know they’re not perfect.
The main character is Eileen, the mother of the family. A devout Catholic, she attends Mass every day, and at confession she confesses every sin she can think of down to her gossipy thoughts.
She serves communion and delivers food to the homebound. She’s careful to pray before meals and keeps a family altar in her home.

The headline caught my eye — “Why are Christians such bad tippers?”
