Friends of the Library will host its spring book sale Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Old Glensboro School, located at the corner of US l27 and US 62.
The sale will include large selections of fiction, biographies, war, history, Kentucky authors, children’s, gardening, cookbooks, travel, westerns, science fiction, how-to, spiritual and religious books. The sale will also have books on tape and CDs, music CDs, DVD and VHS movies. There will be many bargain bundles, box lots and blue light specials since we will be moving to an undetermined location.

The Anderson County Historical Society will meet May 23 at 7 p.m. at the Anderson Public Library.
This month’s presenters, Ann Gibbs and Kenneth Moffett, will discuss the life of the late Dr. Salathiel Gibbs, a long-time physician in the Glensboro area of Anderson County.
The meeting is free.

Box seats for the 141st annual Lawrenceburg Fair and Horse Show are now available.
The fair is scheduled for June 22-29 at the American Legion fairgrounds on Broadway in Lawrenceburg.
Box seat tickets are $75 and include four passes and reserved parking for one car for the horse show nights, which will be held Tuesday, June 25 through Friday, June 28.
“This is an attractive offer and permits you to bring family members or neighbors to the horse show at no further cost to you or your guests,” fair organizers said in a press release.

Anderson County Habitat for Humanity chapter is looking for volunteers to assist with roofing and installing windows and doors for an Anderson County Habitat for Humanity residence on May 18.
Habitat for Humanity is now accepting applications through July 15 for Anderson County residents to be the recipient of the 2014 Habitat for Humanity house.
Applications can be picked up at both locations of Century Bank in Lawrenceburg and can be turned in at the bank.

The Class of 1953 will be holding its 60th reunion June 14-15.
Activities will include gathering at the Best Western hotel on Friday, June 14, and a dinner at the current Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg on Main Street on Saturday, June 15.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in the fashion of 1953, according to event organizers.

The Anderson County High School Class of 1993 will be hosting a 20-year class reunion Saturday, July 20 from 7 p.m. until Midnight at the Wild Turkey Trace Golf Course in Lawrenceburg. The price per person is $25 ($50 per couple) if paid by July 1. The price per person if paid after July 1, or at the door on the night of the reunion, will be $30 ($60 per couple). This price will include food, music, fellowship and room rental, according to event organizers.

The Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club raised approximately $1,500 for the Backpack Buddies program during the Hats Off! luncheon held April 27 in the Family Living Center at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
The Backpack Buddies program provides weekend food for needy Anderson County students, according to the press release.
After lunch, Martha Caywood of The Derby Shoppe and Raggs in Danville again presented the style show, with club members and friends modeling.
