A poker run to benefit veteran causes is scheduled for June 8 at S&B Cycles, 865 North Main St., Lawrenceburg.
The Second Brigade M/C fourth annual Memorial Run in memory of Scott Harper, organizers said, and will leave from S&B Cycles at noon.
Registration begins at 10 a.m.
Proceeds will be used to “adopt” veterans at the Thompson-Hood Veterans Hospital in Wilmore, organizers said.
There will be raffles, door prizes and the first 50 people to sign in will get a free T-shirt.

Kentucky State Troopers, particularly those who die in the line of duty, are never forgotten.
Two Lawrenceburg troopers were honored last Wednesday in an annual ceremony that included several of their family members, along with representatives from the state police, sheriff’s office and city police.
Troopers Harold J. Toll and Bobby McCoun were honored in separate ceremonies that included prayers, scripture and song in two local cemeteries.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 34 recently donated $500 to the Anderson County Lacrosse Association.
The check was presented at the playing field to lacrosse high school coach Jeff Koonce, senior Hunter Phillips, coach Chris Harrod, middle School coach Mike Fink, seventh grader Liam Dulaney, coach Paula Pulliam and coach Don Casciola. Auxiliary members presenting the check were Betty Butler, Nettie Halvorson and Shirley Thornberry.

Legal Aid of the Bluegrass’s SHIP Program, a non-profit organization, has been giving a helping hand to Medicare beneficiaries for many years.
“The focus of the SHIP Program is to educate and assist Medicare beneficiaries and the elderly in making informed decisions regarding benefits based on their circumstances and needs,” according to a news release.

Friends of the Library will host its spring book sale Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Old Glensboro School, located at the corner of US l27 and US 62.
The sale will include large selections of fiction, biographies, war, history, Kentucky authors, children’s, gardening, cookbooks, travel, westerns, science fiction, how-to, spiritual and religious books. The sale will also have books on tape and CDs, music CDs, DVD and VHS movies. There will be many bargain bundles, box lots and blue light specials since we will be moving to an undetermined location.

Box seats for the 141st annual Lawrenceburg Fair and Horse Show are now available.
The fair is scheduled for June 22-29 at the American Legion fairgrounds on Broadway in Lawrenceburg.
Box seat tickets are $75 and include four passes and reserved parking for one car for the horse show nights, which will be held Tuesday, June 25 through Friday, June 28.
“This is an attractive offer and permits you to bring family members or neighbors to the horse show at no further cost to you or your guests,” fair organizers said in a press release.
