We have heard it time and time again after a close game that comes down to a final shot with a close play. Such was the case Thursday when Morehead State upset Louisville in the NCAA Tournament.
You have seen the replays time and again by now. Morehead's Demonte Harper put an incredible fake on Louisville's Peyton Siva, then nailed a 3-pointer with 4.2 seconds to play.
That is plenty of time for Louisville to get off a shot. Morehead's pressure forced Louisville to settle for a contested 3-pointer from Mike Marra.

Still stunned
I'm still stunned that the Anderson County girls' basketball team will not be playing in Diddle Arena on Wednesday.
But that is the beauty (if you win) and craziness (if you lose) of March Madness. Unlike the NBA, where the best team nearly always wins a series, high school and college tournaments are one-and-done affairs.
Teams get in foul trouble. Some teams get hot, or as was the case for Anderson County on Saturday night, teams that normally shoot well, don't.

It is tough enough to win a regional championship in Kentucky basketball. Out of more than 260 high schools only a select few, the “Sweet 16” are fortunate enough to have the combination of basketball skill and luck to make it through five or six win-or-go-home games. Each game, in theory at least, is a bit tougher than the next.

When I heard the news that Anderson County’s Eriel McKee had not been named to the coaches’ All-Region team, I reacted like any normal person who has seen much girls’ basketball this year would.
“You ARE kidding, right?”
No kidding. When the 15-girl team was announced recently, there was no McKee on it.
It is unbelievable.

About 40 minutes before tipoff of Tuesday's Eighth Region Tournament game, I asked Anderson County girls' basketball coach Tony Kays if his team was ready to play.

Anderson County will open girls' Eighth Region Tournament play on Tuesday night when the Lady Bearcats take on Oldham County at approximately 7:30.
Owen County and Simon Kenton will play in the first game, one that on paper looks like a dandy.
Paper also says Anderson should advance to the regional semifinals for the sixth time in the last eight years. The Lady Bearcats beat Oldham County by 20 points in the second week of the season, but every game is different, especially those three months apart.
