The Central Kentucky Batcats' 12-and-under softball team placed second in tournaments the last two weekends. The team finished as runner-up in the Future Stars Tournament, held in Harrodsburg on June 8-9. The Batcats then placed second in the Summer Slugfest 2013, also in Harrodsburg, on Sunday.

The Kentucky Truck Tuggers sponsored an event to benefit the Anderson County Relay for Life at Eagle Lake Convention Center last Friday. “We had a great show and raised a nice chunk of money for Relay,” said event coordinator Melanie Wiley.
Event winners were: 4200 lb. 4X4 – Justin Jones of Stamping Ground; 5500 lb. 2WD – Eddie Wiley of Lawrenceburg; 6000 lb. 4X4 – Mike Chesser of Mt. Washington; Stock 2WD – Jimmy Grooms of Lawrenceburg; Stock 4WD – Todd Nethery of Mt. Eden.

The Anderson County Middle School archery team placed third in the nation in the National Archery in the Schools Program competition, held in Louisville on May 10. They had also finished second in the state competition. The team will participate in the NASP World Tournament, to be held in St. Louis, Mo., the last week of June.
