Field woes send team away from home

BASEBALL: Bearcats to be on road

By John Herndon

Anderson County's high school baseball game with Washington County, originally scheduled for Barnes Memorial Field Wednesday afternoon, March 20, has been moved to Washington County due to Anderson's field being unplayable.

The problems stem from a renovation of the infield. Wet weather has delayed completion of the project, according to Anderson coach L.W. Barnes, who said the Bearcats hope to be back on their home field by mid-April.

Anderson dared to dream, but Marion simply 'the best'

SWEET 16: Marion ends Lady Bearcat title hopes in Final Four

By John Herndon

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those timid spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.

SWEET 16 ONLINE EXTRA: Marion stands in Lady Bearcats' way of playing for state championship

By John Herndon

BOWLING GREEN -- Ever since the first statewide rankings for girls' high school basketball came out around Jan. 1, the only question people have asked is "Who is No. 2?"

They knew Marion County would be No. 1. The Lady Knights have been perched atop the Top 10, Top 25 or whatever number you want to use since the start of practice on Oct. 15 – actually before that – and have given no reason for anyone to think otherwise.
