Spring turkey season is finally in full swing. Even though I didn’t get to hunt opening weekend due to an out-of-state family wedding my season got off to a great start my first day in the woods. I was able to take out a nice 25-pound gobbler sporting a 10¾-inch beard and 1-inch spurs.

Anderson County freshman Mia Aldridge fired a one-hitter as the Lady Bearcats rolled to a 9-0 win over Madison Southern in the Tomahawk Classic at Madison Central Saturday.
Aldridge walked just one and threw first-pitch strikes to 19 of the 26 batters she faced.
Bailey Curry drove in three runs while Katelyn Harrod pushed two more across to lead the Anderson attack. Molly Burkhead and Alissa Vest both had two hits for the Lady Bearcats.

Youth football sign-ups underway
Registrations for Anderson County Bearcat Youth Football and Cheerleading will Saturday, April 27, at Legion Park from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Bearcat Youth Football and Cheerleading is open to students in grades 3-6. The cost is $75 per participant with each additional sibling costing $50.

The Anderson County boys' track team scored one of its biggest victories in several years when it took the West Jessamine All-Comers meet last Tuesday in Nicholasville.
“Our team set 32 personal records,” Anderson coach Robert Meacham said. “What a great night at the track. It is validation that our hard work pays.”
Anderson scored 140 points, well ahead of second place Boyle County, which had 100.
