Picked for All-American team

Jacob Castle, a rising freshman at Anderson County High School, has been named a direct selection for the United States Specialty Sports Association Great Lakes Regional Team. Castle was selected following a tryout in Milford, Ohio on June 2. Castle was evaluated by USSSA staff and coaches as a third baseman and pitcher and will be participating in the USSSA national tournament, to be held in Orlando, Fla., Aug. 6-12.

Dearinger picked for Future Stars

Darion Dearinger, a resident of Anderson County, has been selected to play for the Kentucky Future Stars’ eighth-grade team as it takes on the Tennessee stars. The game will be played on June 17. The game will take place at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn. A seventh-grade game will get underway at 1 p.m. Eastern/12 p.m. Central with the eighth-grade game to follow.

Campbellsville University’s Jordan Alves was honored last week as the Mid-South Conference’s Sports Information Director of the Year. According to a news release, the announcement was made at the conference summer banquet at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green.

Kays plays on state championship team
