TAYLORSVILLE -- Lowell Gordon buried seven 3-point shots and the Anderson County defense stymied the Eminence attack in the second half as the Bearcats rolled to a 69-45 win in the first round of the 30th District Tournament at Spencer County.

District basketball tournament to be on internet radio
The Pegasus Sports Network will provide radio coverage of the 30th District basketball tournament, to be held starting Monday, Feb. 21 with the game between the Eminence and Shelby County girls at 6 p.m. The Anderson County vs. Eminence boys' game will follow.
Pregame coverage will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Scott Jaggers, Mike Montgomery and Roger Franz will be providing play-by-play coverage with the voice of Anderson County basketball, Steve Swank, and Myron Montgomery providing color commentary.

Anderson boys' basketball game reset for Thursday night
The Anderson County High School boys' basketball game at Eminence, postponed Tuesday night because of the snow, has been rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 13. Tip-off for the varsity game is set for 7:15 p.m. The contest is a crucial 30th District seeding game. If you are unable to attend the game, follow Anderson News sports editor John Herndon on Twitter for updates.

Middle school teams have strong showing in Frankfort
The Anderson County Middle School basketball teams had good showings in the Capital City Classic, held at Elkhorn Middle School last week. The Anderson sixth- and eighth-grade teams took second place in their respective brackets.
The eighth-graders lost to Frankfort, then defeated Louisville Crosby, Elkhorn and Lexington Traditional to get to the championship game, where they fell to Southern Middle School, of Pulaski County, 35-24. The eighth grade Mustangs are now 13-3 on the year.

Lady Bearcats take third in Mercer tourney
Harlan County nips Anderson in Sayre tournament
Harlan County scored on a layup with 4.5 seconds to play in overtime to defeat Anderson County 61-60 in the Sayre Spartan Holiday Classic Thursday night in Lexington.
Anderson had one final chance when Erik Newton drove the length of the court then passed to Seth Carmichael on a wing but Harlan County blocked the shot.
Harlan won the round-robin affair with Anderson finishing second. Somerset upset Sayre for third place in the tourney.
