“Adventures in Reading” volunteer tutors recently completed the 20 hours of training to being working with adult learners to improve their reading skills, according to an Anderson Community Education news release.
Adventures in Reading is a new literacy program established through the Adult Learning Center to improve adults’ ability to read, and hopefully, learn to love to read, according to the release. Volunteer tutors are equipped with strategies specially designed for teaching an adult learner in the areas of vocabulary development, fluency, decoding and comprehension. “The result will be changed lives and a changed community in Anderson County,” organizers said.
If you are an adult 16 years and older, and are interested in the free reading program, call 839-3754 at the Adult Learning Center and schedule a time for a reading assessment.
