A free art exhibit featuring five University of Kentucky graduate students and hands-on activities for children will be held at 101 South Main St. in downtown Lawrenceburg on Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Event organizer and UK graduate student Hillary Zimmerman, a Lawrenceburg resident who will receive a master’s in art education in December, said she has several goals for the art exhibit: to provide activities for families to do together to build family cohesion and to expose people to the arts.
Zimmerman said she chose to hold the art exhibit, her final master’s project, in downtown Lawrenceburg as part of her graduate work on educational leadership in the community.
“I love downtown Lawrenceburg,” Zimmerman said.
“I think it’s beautiful and it’s tied to our history and heritage.”
Five UK graduate students will be profiled in the exhibit, showcasing their work from a variety of media such as sculptures, mixed media, paintings, prints and more.
Young visitors will also be able to make their own art, Zimmerman said, with hands-on activities available for children visiting the exhibit.
There will also be refreshments available for exhibit goers, Zimmerman said.
