On Thursday, Oct. 11, the Anderson County Humanities Council will provide residents with an opportunity to hear the story of Emilie Todd Helm, portrayed by Betsy Smith, at the “Rebel in the White House 1836-1930” program at 7 p.m. at the Saffell Street Elementary library.
According to a press release from the Humanities Council, “As the sister of Mary Todd Lincoln and the wife of Confederate Gen. Benjamin Hardin Helm, Emilie Todd Helm had a front row view of history during and after the Civil War.
