American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Training

The Franklin County Chapter will offer Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED for Lay Responders certification training on Saturday, July 26, 8:30a.m. – 4p.m. at the Red Cross building at 318 Washington St. in Frankfort. The cost for the training is $110/person ($90 without Pediatric CPR/AED).

The “lost” distilleries of Anderson County at T.B. Ripy Mansion

 The Attic Visitor Center and Gift Shop at the Historic T.B. Ripy House (320 South Main Street) presents its first in a series of exhibits featuring the “lost” distilleries of Anderson County opening with “Old Joe.”

“Old Joe” is (Joseph) Peyton who started the first distillery proper in Anderson County in 1818, making old Joe one of, the longest living Bourbon labels. Old Joe Bourbon Whiskey was produced in Anderson County from 1818 through the early 1970’s at several locations (the trademark is now held by Heaven Hill Distilleries).

 The exhibit will include historical items including bottles, jugs, photos and more. The exhibit is free, donations are welcome, and open to the public. It will run from July 18 through Nov. 16. The exhibit is open 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Cruise-in car show Aug. 8

The Car Club’s Wheels of Time Cruise-in Car Show will be held 6:30p.m. -9:30 p.m. Friday, August 8 in downtown Lawrenceburg. The car show will continue every second Friday of the month through October.

Claylick UMC hosts “God’s Game Plan” July 26-27

Claylick United Methodist Church will host God’s Game Plan, a Vacation Bible School for children in grades pre-K and up, July 26-27.

The two-day event uses sports themes to help share the message of Jesus and faith with children.

“God’s Game Plan” starts Saturday, July 26, with breakfast and registration at 8:30 a.m.

The day will conclude at 3:15 p.m. and lunch will be provided.

On Sunday, July 27, “God’s Game Plan” will be held from 3-6 p.m. and will include a dinner.

Benefit Ride benefits Open Hands Food Pantry

The Open Hands Community Food Pantry is sponsoring a benefit ride Sat., July 19.

Registration starts at 11 a.m. and kick stands up at 12:30 p.m.

The ride will begin and end at the pantry with all proceeds going to support the Pantry.

State Fair Pride of the Counties Committee

Learn how to plug your spending leaks. This event is from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and a free lunch is included.

•The Home, Craft and Garden Fair Catalog is now available at the Anderson County Extension Office.

There are many classes for youth and adults to enter. Entry is free.

Premium money is awarded for blue ribbons.

Ragged Edge Community Theatre plans events

Ragged Edge Community Theatre will host an outdoor production of James Harrod: The Battle for Kentucky every Thursday-Saturday in July.

All shows begin at 8:30 p.m. and are staged at the Fort Harrod Amphitheater.

Anderson County Community Medical Clinic

Anderson County Community Medical Clinic Inc. will be open the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Patients must be screened and referred to the clinic through the Anderson County Health Department.

To qualify, one must be an Anderson County resident, 18 years of age or older, have been diagnosed with a chronic illness and have no insurance.

Call the Health Department at 502-839-4551 to be screened and given an appointment. No walk-ins will be accepted at the clinic.

The Clinic is located at 1111 Industry Road.

Severe weather warning testing days have changed

Anderson County 911 changed its weekly testing of the outdoor severe weather warning sirens from noon on Saturdays to noon on Wednesdays.
