By Christian Marnon

The Anderson County Board of Education voted unanimously last week to spend $5,000 toward the purchase of Class 4A state championship rings and necklaces for the high school’s Marching Bearcats.

Band boosters will raise the bulk of an estimated $25,000 needed to fund the commemorative pieces, which will be purchased from ring manufacturer Balfour.

Board member Roger McDowell said the band is deserving of their rings not only because of its win, but band Director Patrick Brady’s ability to transform limited funds into success.
