“I see the sun … it is beautiful.” These were the words of George Souliotes as he was walking out of a California prison a free man, after spending 17 years incarcerated for a crime he was innocent of.
The 72-year-old Greek immigrant, who was convicted of triple murder, had his case taken up by an innocence project that worked to overturn his sentence, re-examining and disproving much of the forensic evidence that was used to condemn him.
