Anderson athletes get fall sports honors

Eleven different Anderson County High School athletes were recently honored as all-district or all-region selections in their different sports.

Lady Bearcat volleyball players Ashley Couch and Bethany Hardin were named to the All-Eighth Region Tournament team by the region's coaches. Earlier, Shelbi Savoie, Liberty O'Neal and Hardin were selected to the All-30th District Tournament team. The Lady Bearcats advanced to the regional semifinals for the first time in four years.

Anderson girls' soccer players Andrea Melanson and Carrie Isaacs were named to the All-Eighth Region Tournament team as the Lady Bearcats advanced to the regional semi-finals.

Melanson, Morgan Abner, Niki Curtsinger and Makenzie Cann were named to the All-30th District Tournament team with Cann being selected as the tournament's Most Valuable Player for the district champion Lady Bearcats.

Melanson, who was also an honorable mention all-state selection, was named to the All-Eighth Region first team based on regular-season play. Curtsinger was named to the all-region second team while Cann, Abner, Madeline Wilson and Alyssa Rogers were honorable mention selections.
