Anderson Community Education offers variety of classes

The following classes will be offered by Anderson Community Education in the coming weeks.

Basic Computer
‘Where’s the On Button?’
When: Friday Oct. 21 and 28, 12:30-2:30 p.m.
Where: Adult Learning Center, 219 East Woodford St., Lawrenceburg with instructor Jacqueline Zeller
Cost: $30
Description: This class is designed to teach adults, with one-on-one instruction, how to use a computer and mouse. Learn to access internet sites for family research, travel plans, local weather, sports and news. This class includes a basic introduction to Microsoft Word and Excel for creating office documents. You will learn to setup an e-mail account. If you do not know how to type, the free class basic keyboarding is a requirement before taking basic computer.

Basic Microsoft PowerPoint
When: October 18 and 20 from 6-8 p.m.
Where: Adult Learning Center, 219 East Woodford St., Lawrenceburg with instructor Beth Feddersen
Cost: $30
Description: In this class you will learn how to customize animations, do slide transitions, rehearse timings, and much more.
By the end of the class, you will be able to give great PowerPoint presentations. Bring pictures on CD to make learning more fun.

Zumba Fitness for Adults
When: Oct. 20-Nov. 17 Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Where: Emma B. Ward Elementary School, with instructor, Patty Wolf
Cost: $35
Description: Zumba is a fusion of Latin and international music-dance themes that creates a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness workout. The routines feature aerobics training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba is a mixture of body movements with easy to follow dance steps. Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes.  (Ages 12 and over.)

Extended hours for GED and college prep instruction
The Adult Learning Center is now open from 8 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.
Bluegrass Community and Technical College is open for GED/college prep classes from noon until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Call the main office at 839-3754 for information about enrolling.
