Fundraising book sales generate dollarsfor local causes

Friends of the Anderson Library raised $551.85 from their book sale June 28.

The total included $488.35 raised from book sales, $35 from T-shirt sales, $18.50 from donations and $10 from memberships.

This past book sale featured a generous donation from the family of the late Dr. Ira V. Birdwhistell, a religion professor at Georgetown College.

The donation consisted of Birdwhistell’s entire religious studies book collection, more than 40 boxes of books.

Friends of the Library plan to have another book sale in August during the 127 Yard Sale.

In the past, proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sales have gone towards the library’s summer reading program, the high school textbook funds to help families that can’t afford their child’s textbooks and for the elementary and middle school book fairs, allowing low income students to buy books also.

To make a large book donation, call 502.839.3484 and Friends of the Library will meet you at the bookstore.

Otherwise, small donations can be dropped off at the library.
