UPDATED 2:15 P.M. THURSDAY — Anderson County Schools are closed today, but no decision has been announced regarding Friday, Jan. 8.
According to a special weather statement issued this afternoon by the National Weather Service, as the snow tapers off, high winds may become the main threat in the area.
"As the snow ends a cold front will usher in west winds of 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts," according to the statement from the weather service. "These winds will cause significant blowing and drifting snow."
