Anderson Public Library offers November computer classes

The Anderson Public Library will offer the following free computer classes in November. All classes are subject to cancellation, and class space is limited to five students. Call the library at 839-6420 to sign up.

Introducation to the Internet
When: Nov. 6, 10 a.m. to noon
Let’s go surfing! This class will introduce you to the internet. Topics include: using the internet, website addresses, navigating a website, conducting a simple search, understanding email and social networking. Pre-registration is required.

Introduction to
Microsoft Word Level I
When: Nov. 13, 10 a.m. to noon
Learn the basics of word processing, including creating, formatting, and printing a simple document. Prerequisite: Experience using Windows programs. Pre-registration is required.

Introduction to
Microsoft Word Level II
When: Nov. 20, 10 a.m. to noon
Learn more advanced word processing skills including bulleted and numbered lists, cut/copy/paste functions, and printing envelopes and labels.
Prerequisite: Word Level 1 class or experience creating simple documents using Word 2007 or 2010. Pre-registration is required.

Introduction to E-mail
When: Nov. 21, 10 a.m. to noon
Learn the basics of opening and using email. We will discuss and opening an account, logging into your account, composing a new message, sending a message, attaching a file, and maintaining your inbox. Pre-registration is required.

Cyber Monday: Safe
Holiday Shopping
When: Nov. 26, 2-4 p.m.
If you have never shopped online and have concerns about personal data security but would like to try it out, come on over. The program will have five computers for use (couples may sign up together and use one computer) and an instructor to guide patrons to safe secure shopping Patrons must have an existing email account and a personal credit card to shop online. All personal data will be kept private.

Introduction to Computers
When: Nov. 27, 10-11:30 a.m.
This class is for the beginner. The main goal is to ease anxieties about using the computer. Topics include: parts of the computer and mouse / keyboard skills. No previous computer skills required. Pre-registration is required.
