Ward, Turner and Saffell Street elementary school students competed in the Region 18 Governor’s Cup Competition Saturday in Jessamine County.
Region 18 also includes of elementary schools in Woodford, Jessamine and Mercer counties.
Ward Elementary won the Governor’s Cup championship and Saffell Street Elementary tied for fourth place. Governor’s Cup is composed of individual and team events.
Mathematics assessment:Justin Hunter (Ward) and Mason Pierce (Ward) tied for first place with a perfect score of 30 each. Other Anderson County students scoring high were Knox Garland and Jonathan Olmsted, both of Turner, and Jackson Snodgrass of Ward.
Science assessment:Jacob Alteri (Turner) took fourth place.
Composition: Anna Williams (Ward) won second place and Maggie Abner (Saffell) took third place.
Arts and humanities: Anna Sawyer and Madyson Ripy, both of Saffell, wone second and fourth place, respectively.
Future problem solving: Ward took first place and Saffell took second place.
Quick recall:Ward won fourth place.
