Bob and Sandy Works will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 1.
They were married on June 1, 1962 in Bonita Springs, Fla., at Lee Memorial United Methodist Church. Bob was an active duty Marine stationed at Quantico, Va. Sandy was a stenographer with the Department of Defense Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. After release from active duty, they moved home to Lexington where Bob served with the Lexington Fire department from 1964-1994 and retired as Battalion Chief.
They have three children, Lisa (Paul) Works Thudium, Walton., Stephen (Amanda) Works, West Columbia, S.C., and Curtis (Paula) Works, Sadieville. They have four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
After Bob’s retirement from the fire department, they moved to Lawrenceburg in 1997. Later they moved their church membership from Lexington to Sand Spring Baptist Church, where they are actively involved with outreach and visitation and teaching a new members’ class. Bob also serves as a deacon.
The couple will be taking a celebratory trip to the Great Lakes.
