The fifth annual DARE Fishing Derby will be this Saturday, June 7, from 8-11 a.m. at the Hope Community Church Lake near the Anderson/Franklin county line on U.S. 127.
The derby is sponsored by the Anderson County Sheriff's Office DARE Program and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Children ages 15 and younger are invited to fish for free. Participants are asked to bring their own fishing pole/tackle. Bait will be provided, and participants can keep what they catch. The Sheriff's Office stocks the pond a few days before the event.
