The Anderson County High School archery team took first place overall in the National Archery in the Schools Program Region 5 tournament, held March 1 at the Frankfort High School's F.D. Wilkinson gymnasium.
Whitney Ditmore took first place and Kate Wickizer placed fifth in the girls' competition, while Anderson made a near sweep of the boys' competition, with Andrew Burkhart winning and Dillon Burkhead, Hunter Lilly and Ian Gill taking second, third and fifth places, respectively.
The Anderson County Middle School team took third place overall with Braden Peyton winning the boys' competition, putting up a 268 score.
The elementary school team placed second with Michala Frederick placing second in the girls' competition (233) and Tiffany Yount coming in fifth (209). Ethan Steele (235) and Cody Able (233) came in fourth and fifth in the boys' competition.
The Anderson archers will compete in the state archery tournament on March 18 at the Louisville Convention Center, according to a press release.
