Seven members of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 34 went to Thomson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore on Dec. 3 for a Christmas party for the Roosevelt Unit. Shopping was done from a wish list provided by the center for 54 veterans. Unit 34 members helped pass out gifts purchased by the Legion and Auxiliary and food was provided by the Veterans Center.
The residents asked for electric razors, CD players, CDs, antique cars, fishing, nature, country and religious pictures. Also on their list were warm up suits, robes, sweaters, UK items, blankets, socks and shirts. This year was the sixth year Unit 34 has sponsored the Christmas party at Thomson-Hood. The members enjoyed the party as much as the veterans, according to the Auxiliary’s news release.
Juniors entertained the veterans and their family members by singing Christmas songs, the National Anthem and visiting with them.
