Bardstown rips Bearcats
By John Herndon
Bardstown bolted to an early lead and never looked back as the Tigers routed visiting Anderson County 68-38 in boys' high school basketball action Monday night.
Bardstown led 18-6 after the first quarter and extended the lead to 35-16 by halftime.
“We didn't start the game well and that made us play from behind all night,” Anderson assistant coach Bryan Hyatt said. “Bardstown played and shot the ball better than we had seen them do prior to our game. They really shared the ball and hit open shots. We had a tough tim stopping them so we never could make a serious run.”
Hyatt said that Anderson will have some growing pains but it pointing toward the end of the season.
“This team is under development,” he said. “We are still trying to find which tempo is best for us. We haven't had enough time together yet to practice slowing the game down and obviously (Monday night), we needed to do so.
Erik Newton continued his stellar early season play for the Bearcats, scoring 19 points.
