The Parkway Marathon station was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money Friday night, but the owner and his family are thankful that day's receipts were their only loss.
Owner John Ellis, 59, who is battling colon cancer, literally fought for his life after a masked gunman entered the store, demanded cash, then allegedly threatened to shoot him.
"He took the bag of money from the desk and then told me to come on around the back with him," Ellis said.
"I asked him what for and he said because I'm going to take you around back and shoot you."
