Anderson County pulled away in the final minutes to post a 68-59 win over visiting Gallatin County in high school basketball action Saturday night. The Bearcats scored the first 5 points of the fourth quarter to put some distance between their Eighth Region rival. Gallatin was never closer than 6 after that.

Anderson's 2-3 zone defense was the difference in the battle of two of the top 5 teams in the region. With Gallatin in front 14-13 during the first quarter, Anderson coach Glen Drury called for the zone which utilized his team's superior size. Anderson improved to 5-1 while Gallatin fell to 7-2.

C.J. Penny led Anderson with 23 points and 5 assists. Will Ruggles and Jacob Russell pulled down 10 rebounds each while Ryan Wells also was credited with 5 assists. Zac Jones and Trent Maddox led Gallatin with 17 and 16 points respectively.
