Burgoo may be a Kentucky tradition, but it’s also a top-selling menu item at a restaurant chain in the Philippines.
The slow-cooked Kentucky stew is the star entrée of Albert Alavera’s restaurant chain Burgoo, a casual dining establishment with 11 different locations in metro Manila.
Alavera, who said he’s a professionally trained chef, entrepreneur and managing director of the Burgoo chain, flew from his sister’s home in Los Angeles to Lexington to experience Lawrenceburg’s annual burgoo festival.
