A barn burned down after it was struck by lightning during a severe thunderstorm that hit Anderson County last Tuesday night.
Nicholas Crouch’s 30-foot by 40-foot structure, located on Bardstown Road on US 62 in Lawrenceburg, caught on fire around 11:30 p.m. on April 16, according to County Fire Chief Mike Barnes.
Filled with mostly hay and some farm equipment, the barn burned to the ground and the fire damaged a corn crib behind it, Barnes said. He said he’s pretty sure the cause of the fire was due to lightning.
