Church briefs: Alton Baptist welcomes new worship leader

-A A +A

Kris Grimes has accepted the position of worship leader, Alton Baptist Church announced.
Grimes has extensive experience in Christian ministry and church work, the announcement said.
He previously served Alton as minister of youth, a role he began while still a student at Centre College in Danville and in which he continued for five years.
He also was instrumental in helping plant the Centershot archery ministry in churches all across the country.
Just before accepting this ministry position, Grimes served Alton for six years as a volunteer worship coordinator, leading the church’s blended service. During that time, he attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, where he has finished nearly two-thirds of his course work for a degree in theology. Those studies and his volunteer work at Alton have solidified his calling to bi-vocational ministry.
After graduation from Centre College, Grimes attended the University of Kentucky where he received his PhD degree. He is on staff at Kentucky State University in Frankfort, where he has recently been appointed to an assistant professorship in the department of food and animal sciences.
Grims is a gifted musician with a heart for worship, according to a news release.
His energetic and enthusiastic leadership style is complemented at Alton by an outstanding array of players and singers including his wife, Crystal, who is a marvelous soloist, the news release states.
They have two sons – Lucas and Jackson.
Alton Baptist is located on US 127 between Lawrenceburg and Frankfort.
