Church of Christ hosts clothing giveaway
Lawrenceburg Church of Christ will host a clothing giveaway Saturday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The clothes are free for those in need.
The church has a clothing closet where members bring clothes that no longer fit, but are in good condition, according to a news release. Throughout the year, these clothes are used to help families after a fire or during financial difficulties.
The clothing giveaway provides a time when the clothes can be spread out to make it easier to find sizes, the news release said. Clothes for adults and children of all ages will be available.
The church building is located at 558 S. Main St. The clothing giveaway will be in the church annex at 102 Franklin St. behind the church building.
For more information, call 502-839-4135.

Central Baptist begins shoe collection
Central Baptist Church is once again collecting gently worn shoes to benefit Soles4Souls, which collects and distributes shoes to people living in extreme poverty and recovering from natural disasters, according to a news release.
This year’s campaign is titled, “11 in 11,” meaning Soles4Souls hopes to collect 11 million shoes in 2011.
“With the earthquakes in countries like Haiti and Chile, on top of the enormous needs elsewhere, we can use the estimated 1.5 billion shoes taking up space in the closets of ordinary people to change the world one pair at a time,” said Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls Wayne Elsey.
Elsey added, “We need partners like Central Baptist to get behind our ‘11 IN 11’ campaign and get a little crazy this year. Donating shoes is one of the most simple yet profound gifts you can make, because it will greatly improve someone’s life in the most difficult of times.”
Central Baptist Church is located on U.S. 127 at the Franklin/Anderson County line, across from the cell phone tower.  Shoe donations will be accepted March 13 through April 30.  A donation bin is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the church.
People and companies interested in donating can visit the organization’s website at www.giveshoes.org.
