Hoping this time the outcome will be different, the Lawrenceburg City Council is applying for a grant to fund a skate park.
The city has applied for the Land and Water Conservation Fund twice before, but officials have high hopes Lawrenceburg will receive the grant this year.
At a special called meeting last Thursday, the council voted unanimously to apply for the grant.
If awarded the grant, the city would receive $45,000 to use to build a skate park. The city would be responsible for matching the grant either monetarily or in-kind.
Mayor Edwinna Baker told the council she had discussed the grant with skate park committee members who could provide $35,000 of the city’s matching funds.
The other $10,000 would be made up through in-kind services, Baker said.
