City council gives final nod to tax rate increase

The city council voted 4-0 at its special-called meeting Monday afternoon to approve a 3.4 percent increase in real property taxes for 2012-2013.
Council member Sandy Goodlett made the first motion to approve the tax rate, with Larry Giles seconding the motion. Council members Steve Rucker and Ken Evans were absent from Monday’s special-called meeting.
