COLUMN: All of the signs point to a cold winter

Brrrrrrrr, and double brrrrrr. Baby, it’s cold outside. Even Spanky’s wearing a coat. Spanky is my only shorthaired dog and she loves to wear her faux leather, fur-lined coat. Go figure. I love to wear my long underwear.
Dressing in layers is about the only way to stay warm as winter settles in for a few months. Keeping your head and chest warm is key. You lose up to 90 percent of your body heat through the top of your head. If these temperatures continue, I’ll have more layers than an onion by the time spring rolls round.
