COLUMN: Closing Main Street not the best option

Alienating people by blocking off Main Street to those not willing to purchase a $35 ticket to taste wine and bourbon is probably not the best way to preserve the city’s downtown.

That’s what happened last Friday when The Society for the Historic Preservation of the City of Lawrenceburg Inc. held a fundraiser and the mayor’s office approved closing Main Street to accommodate the event.
