COLUMN: News — no matter the hour

Wednesday morning my phone rang at 4:59, well ahead of my 7:30 alarm.
Last Monday morning was much the same story, except the phone rang a little later — 5:26.
Anderson County students have missed 10 days of school this winter (as of Wednesday night when I wrote this column), so it would be very easy to squeeze in a hyperbole and say this has happened to me 10 times this school year so far. But let’s be honest, sometimes school gets called off the day before.
