Gilkerson and Gilkison family
reunion to be held Sept. 22
The Gilkerson/Gilkison family reunion will be held Sept. 22 at the Legion Hall in Paris from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Event organizers ask that participants bring a covered dish for sharing and soft drinks of their choice. Utensils, plates, napkins, lemonade and coffee will be provided. Reunion organizers also ask to “bring your family tree information and anything you’d like to display for others to enjoy.”

Salvisa Ruritan Country Days set
The Salvisa Ruritan Country Days festival will be Sept. 14-15 at The Robin’s Nest Gift Shop, located at 100 Main St., Salvisa.
The two-day festival will include a cornhole tournament featuring a $100 prize for first place, cake contest, quilt contest and photo contest. There will also be free music concerts featuring gospel, country, bluegrass and rock music all day Sept. 15. Inflatable rides and games will be available for $5 for all-day admission on Saturday.
There will also be a talent show with a $200 first place prize if five or more contestants enter, or a $50 first place prize if fewer than five enter. A cruise-in with DJ Rick Johnson on Friday night will also be held. For more information about the festival, visit www.salvisaruritan.org.

High school to host parent connection night
Anderson County High School invites all parents to attend the first trimester Parent Connection Night on Sept. 13 from 5:30–8 p.m.
According to a press release from the high school, “The purpose of this event is to inform parents of the resources available to them and their student(s) and to encourage collaboration with our faculty.”
Highlights of the evening will include parent/teacher conferences; parents who would like to meet with specific teachers should contact the guidance office. A Student Services/Testing fair will be set-up in gym C, where staff will be available to share resources regarding college/career readiness and more. Student Services staff will host Senior Parent Night in the auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Counselors will review information and provide packets to parents on college preparation. Additionally, there will be performances throughout the evening by the men’s choir, band, and an arts display. The Lady Bearcat volleyball team will also be in action.
