Historical Society will meet

The Anderson County Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thurs., June 26 in the old section of the Lawrenceburg cemetery.

Those attending should dress comfortable. Plan to park at the cemetery. This meeting is free and open to the public.

The cemetery is located at 1031 Bond & Lillard Rd.

Salvisa Ruritan Club Vendor Fair

The fair will be held on Sat., June 28 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This event is located at Salvisa Ruritan Fairgrounds on Main Street in Salvisa, Ky.

Many vendor booths to shop from including Origami Owl, Mary Kay, Scentsy and more! There will also be concessions and face painting for the kids too.

Friends of the Library book sale is June 28

Friends of the Anderson Public Library will have a book sale June 28, 9a.m.-3p.m., at the building on the back lawn of the Library, 114 N. Main and Posey Street.

The Highs and Lows, a local folksy duo made up of Cole Ripy and Jessica Handy, will entertain during the lunch hours.

Several large donations of new and slightly used books have been received since the last sale, both fiction and nonfiction and also a generous supply of audio books

Other available selections include science fiction, fiction, westerns, cookbooks, gardening, how-to, crafts, woodworking, travel, biography, genealogy, spiritual and religious books.

Friends are still spring cleaning, which means there will be plenty of free books.

Friends of the Anderson Public Library is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to encourage reading for all ages. Friends welcome new members to help with sales and support our mission.

Proceeds from the sales have primarily been donated to Anderson County schools and children’s reading programs. Friends accept donations of all types of books in good condition that appeal to the general public.

Anderson County Fair pageants

The Lawrenceburg Fair & Horse Show Pageants include the following this week:

•The 2-year-old baby girl and baby boy, 3-year-old Wee Miss and 3-year-old Wee Mister and 4-year-old Tiny Miss and Tiny Mister will be held Wed., June 25 from 6-7 p.m.

•The Little Miss and Mister pageant will be held Thurs., June 26.

The Lawrenceburg Fair & Horse Show is held at the American Legion Post 34 Fairgrounds located at 725 W Broadway St., Lawrenceburg KY 40342.

Anderson County Cooperative Extension has events

The following are upcoming events at the Anderson County Cooperative Extension located at 1026 County Park Rd., Lawrenceburg KY 40342.

•June 25 – Mending Basics, 5:30–6:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to sew on buttons, fix ripped seams and repair hems. This is event is for adults and youth ages 12 years old and older. Bring a mending and learn how to fix it. This event is free.

•July 1 – 6-8 p.m. This is a hands-on workshop on making pickles. The cost is $5.

•July 22 – 6–8 p.m. This is a hands-on workshop on canning fruit, freezing and dehydrating. The cost for this class is $5.

July 25-29 Where Does Your Money Go? What’s Your Money Personality?  This event is a fun, hands-on money personality test that helps you see how money habits and attitudes influence your life and financial choices.  Learn how to plug your spending leaks. This event is from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and a free lunch is included.

The Home, Craft and Garden Fair Catalog is now available at the Anderson County Extension Office.

There are many classes for youth and adults to enter. Entry is free.

Premium money is awarded for blue ribbons.

Contact the Anderson County Extension Office if you would like to sponsor the prize money for one of the departments.

State Fair Pride of the Counties Committee

The Pride of the Counties committee will meet regularly before the Kentucky State Fair to make plans for the Anderson County exhibit.

Meetings are open to anyone interested in participating.

Anderson County Community Medical Clinic

Anderson County Community Medical Clinic Inc. will be open the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Patients must be screened and referred to the clinic through the Anderson County Health Department. To qualify, one must be an Anderson County Kentucky resident, 18 years of age or older, have been diagnosed with a chronic illness and have no insurance.

Call the Health Department at 502.839.4551 to be screened and given an appointment. No walk-ins will be accepted at the clinic.

Severe weather warning testing days have changed

Anderson County 911 changed its weekly testing of the outdoor severe weather warning sirens from noon on Saturdays to noon on Wednesdays.

Ragged Edge Community Theatre plans event

Ragged Edge Community Theatre will host an outdoor production of James Harrod: The Battle for Kentucky every Thursday-Saturday in July. All shows begin at 8:30 p.m.

All shows are staged at the Fort Harrod Amphitheater.
