Compassionate Friends announce upcoming meetings
The Compassionate Friends will host meetings for bereavement parents who have lost children of any age.
Meetings are held on the first Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and the third Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the hospice building, 643 Teton Trail in Frankfort.

Oct. 17 – Remember When You Had a Good Night’s Sleep at 6 p.m. Light supper provided.
Oct. 22 – Early Childhood Council – parent involvement needed for developing reading program. Help your preschooler be ready to read. Planning meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Oct. 24 – Diabetes Medications – Get your questions answered by Sherri Hahn, Pharmacist RPH, from Kroger Pharmacy at 5:30 p.m.
Nov. 1 – How to Cook Thanksgiving Dinner on a Budget at 5 p.m.

Veterans can apply for VA claims at Legion
Veterans can file for VA claims, ask information on veteran benefits, initiate claim appeals or just have an opportunity to ask how to negotiate the VA system, according to a press release from the American Legion.
When: Fourth Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m.
Where: American Legion, Post 34, at Legion Park in Lawrenceburg.

Mt. Eden Saddle club upcoming events

Nov. 2: Halloween Dance and Costume Contest. Silver Wings Band will play from 8 p.m. to midnight. $5 adults, children 6 and under free, members free. Contest for scariest, funniest and cutest kid under 12.  2014 Officer Election will be held at 6:30 p.m.
The Adult Learning Center, located at 219 E. Woodford St., is open from 8 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Adult education offers classes in GED/College-prep instruction, educational assessment and learning workplace skills. The Bluegrass Community and Technical College offers adult education services Monday through Friday from noon until 4 p.m. Community education offers lifelong learning classes, humanities programs, Community of Promise involvement and opportunities to volunteer in the schools and throughout the community. Upcoming events
Flu shots will be given at the Anderson County senior center on Oct. 7 from 11 a.m. to noon. Shots are free to those who have Medicare/Medicaid, Kentucky Unbridled Spirit or Humana insurance. Self-pay shots are $20. Shots will be given by the Anderson County health department. Please call the Anderson Senior Center at 839-7520 to reserve your shot.
