Community
Compassionate Friends announce upcoming meetings
The Compassionate Friends will host meetings for bereavement parents who have lost children of any age.
Meetings are held on the first Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and the third Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the hospice building, 643 Teton Trail in Frankfort.

The Compassionate Friends invites all who have experienced the death of a child to join them at the annual Candlelighting program Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort.
Guest speaker will be Melinda Simpson and music provided by singer/songwriter Michael Nunley. If you would like to submit a picture of your child(ren) for the slideshow, please mail to PO Box 4075, Frankfort, Ky., by Dec. 3. No originals pictures please. They may also be scanned and emailed to Karen821285@yahoo.com for more information contact Kathy at 502-517-6289.

Relay for Life fundraisers
Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 24 and 25 – 4th annual House of Trees at Eagle Lake Convention Center. Two-day silent auction featuring decorated holiday trees, wreaths, centerpieces and classic gingerbread houses. Saturday: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. and Sunday: 1-4 p.m. Also includes pictures with Santa on Saturday, shopping with onsite vendors, refreshments and holiday music and entertainment performed by local talent.

The Adult Learning Center, located at 219 E. Woodford St., is open from 8 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Adult education offers classes in GED/College-prep instruction, educational assessment and learning workplace skills. The Bluegrass Community and Technical College offers adult education services Monday through Friday from noon until 4 p.m. Community education offers lifelong learning classes, humanities programs, Community of Promise involvement and opportunities to volunteer in the schools and throughout the community.  For information call the office at 502-839-3754.

On Dec. 17 the Senior Center will host a holiday open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The community is invited to attend.
