Annual Chamber golf scramble is May 31
The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble will take place at Wild Turkey Trace Golf Course May 31 starting with breakfast at 8 a.m.
A brand new car, plus several other hole-in-one opportunities, at stake, this year.

ACHS greenhouse sales are scheduled
The annual Anderson County High School FFA greenhouse will take place every Saturday through May 31. Sale hours are 1-4 p.m.
This is a student-run greenhouse with all the proceeds going to benefit ACHS FFA.
ACALC will host hip-hop dance for children
The Anderson County Adult Learning Center will host a hip-hop dance for children, ages 7-18 Thurs., May 15, Tues., May 20, Thurs. May 29, Tues., June 3 and Thurs., June 12 from 6-7 p.m.
This class is an introduction to the hip-hop style of dance. Many different styles and techniques will be demonstrated and taught for the specified age groups.
Participants need to wear tennis shoes and long, flexible pants.

ACALC will host dog obedience class
The Anderson County Adult Learning Center will host a basic dog obedience class at the Anderson County Park 6-7 p.m. on Mondays through June 23 with the exception of Memorial Day, Mon., May 26.
This is a six-week session where owners will learn to teach their dog to sit, lie down, stay, heel, come, and do tricks.
Any dog at least 4 months old is welcome. The first night of class is for dog owners only but for the remainder of the class, owners can bring family, a dog, leash, and some favorite treats.

“Stop by get started” event is for new BCTC students
Bluegrass Community and Technical College will host a “Stop by get started” event for new students Mon., June 9, from noon- 5 p.m.
The event will allow 2014 fall students to fill out an application, conduct a COMPASS exam, apply for financial aid, meet with an advisor, enroll in classes and attend a new student orientation.

Be on the lookout for bicyclists
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Kentucky-Southeast Indiana Chapter, will host a bike-a-thon Sat., May 17, and Sun., May 18.
Areas in particular to be on the lookout include Interstate 395 South, Interstate 44 East, Interstate US-62 West, Interstate 151 and Interstate 512 near Alton Station Road.

Relay for Life will host golf scramble
Relay for Life Golf Scramble Fri., May 16, at 1 p.m. at Wild Turkey Trace Golf Course.
The cost is $50 per golfer and $100 for hole sponsors.

KSP will be conducting safety checkpoints
The Kentucky State Police Post 12, which provides police coverage for Anderson, Fayette, Franklin, Scott, Shelby, Spencer and Woodford counties, will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at locations approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual.
There will also be special traffic enforcement in high collision areas using radar, laser and saturation patrols.
These checkpoints will be conducted in an effort to enforce the traffic laws of Kentucky.
Special attention will be paid to occupant protection (seat belt adherence), sobriety, insurance, and registration violations.

Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club May events
The Lawrenceburg Pierian Woman’s Club will host “Hats Off!,” the club’s annual luncheon and fashion show, Sat., May 17, at 11:30 a.m. at the Family Life Center of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 120 Gatewood Ave., Lawrenceburg KY 40342.
Proceeds from the silent auction benefit the Backpack Buddies food program for Anderson County students.
The luncheon menu includes chicken salad with grapes and pecans, strawberry-pretzel layered salad, croissants, beverages and dessert cakes.
Following the luncheon, Martha Caywood of The Derby Shop and Raggs in Danville will present a spring fashion show.

Anderson County Community Medical Clinic
Anderson County Community Medical Clinic Inc. will be open the second and fourth Tuesday of May from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Patients must be screened and referred to the clinic through the Anderson County Health Department. To qualify, one must be an Anderson County Kentucky resident, 18 years of age or older, have been diagnosed with a chronic illness and have no insurance.
Call the Health Department at 502.839.4551 to be screened and given an appointment. No walk-ins will be accepted at the clinic.

The Lawrenceburg-Anderson County Economic Development Authority will meet Wed., May 21, at 9:30 a.m. at the Anderson County Board of Education Office located at 1160 Bypass North, Lawrenceburg KY 40342.
The Board will have the first reading of the Authority Budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
8th Veterans Reunion is May 16-17
The 8th Annual All Veterans Reunion is May 16-17 at American Legion Post 34 located at 725 W. Broadway, Lawrenceburg KY 40342.
Gates open at noon Friday. Aactivities include a Schneider Ride of Pride POW MIA semi-truck display noon-6p.m. and a candlelight service at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday activities include an opening ceremony at 10 a.m., Scott Harper Memorial Bike Show at 10:30 a.m., veterans ceremony at 2 p.m. and live entertainment from 5-8 p.m.
The event is open to the public.
