Community ed offers fitness classes

The following fitness classes will be offered in the coming weeks, Anderson Community Education announced.

Aerobics, Tae Bo
When: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from Jan. 9 to Feb. 16, 6 to 7 p.m.
Where: Saffell Street Elementary cafeteria with certified instructor, Doris Thompson.
Cost: $29
Description: This six-week class includes warm-up, step aerobics, strength endurance with hand weights, Tae Bo punch and kick exercises and cool down. Participation improves cardiovascular efficiency, endurance and flexibility.  Bring an aerobic exercise step, mat or towel, a set of 1 to 5 pound hand weights and a bottle of water. This class is ongoing throughout the year.

Boot Camp Fitness
When: Tuesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9-10:30 a.m., Jan. 10-Feb. 11, twice a week
Where: Emma B. Ward Elementary School gymnasium with certified personal trainer Todd Barrick.
Cost: $60 (10 sessions)
Description: Boot Camp Fitness is held twice a week teaching five different fitness interval sessions. The workout consists of circuit training, heart rate intervals, strength, core and plymetric training. The workout includes warm-up exercises and a cool down. This camp is co-ed and is structure to fit all fitness levels. Bring a mat, bottle of water, a towel and gym shoes.

Zumba Fitness
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 10 to Feb. 9 from 4:45-5:45 p.m.
Where: Emma B. Ward gymnasium with certified instructor Tonjua Casey
Cost: $60 (10 sessions)
Description: Zumba is a fusion of Latin and international music-dance themes that creates a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness workout. The routines feature aerobics training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba is a mixture of easy to follow dance steps. Wear comfortable clothes and gym shoes.
