Editor’s note: The following letter was written to Judge-Executive John Wayne Conway and submitted here for publication.
To the editor:
I was totally shocked and terribly disappointed upon reading the Dec. 11 Anderson News article that you have arbitrarily tabled unification efforts to merge our local governments; particularly in view of the apparent good faith votes of the city council and fiscal court on Aug. 16 to adopt ordinances creating a unification review commission.
Your motion to table unification of city and county governments ignores the statutory requirements of a study by a duly appointed unification review commission — thus depriving the general public of information which will be provided by a study, not to mention the inability of the citizens to vote on the issue.
Your premature action must be based upon something known only by you. In all fairness, I now ask that you advise us of your reason for your arbitrary attempt to totally block the unification process by failing to create a unification review commission.
Since the general public is entitled to all information concerning this matter, I have a delivered a copy of this letter to The Anderson News.
