An audit of the county’s 2009 finances revealed multiple problems, including several hundred thousand dollars in a local bank that weren’t insured or collateralized.
The audit, released by state Auditor Crit Luallen’s office, also revealed that the county had negative fund balances in several line items of its budget and three instances of where it’s bills were not paid within 30 days, as is required by state law.
Judge-Executive Steve Cornish said the bill paying issue stems from the fiscal court meeting twice each month.
