County clerk collapses, dies while jogging

Longtime Anderson County Clerk Harold Ritchey died of an apparent heart attack while jogging Monday evening near the entrance of American Legion Fairgrounds.

According to an unofficial preliminary report, Ritchey, 64, collapsed at about 8:30 p.m. He was unresponsive when county EMS workers treated him at the scene and he was immediately transported to Frankfort Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 9:30 p.m.

The news of his untimely passing was met by disbelief and a great deal of sadness by people throughout the community.
