When Lawrenceburg police officer Jeremy Cornish saw thousands of pounds of crushed cans Friday afternoon in a back yard on College Street, he knew something was amiss.
Acting on a tip, Cornish said he was immediately suspicious, and for good reason. The cans - all 4,200 pounds of them - were stolen, and those who have since admitted doing so were well on their way to cashing them in for a nifty 50 cents per pound.
Charged in the theft are James Jarrell, 44, of 129 College St., and Kevin Fairchild, 26, of 104 1/2 Ann Drive.
