The 5 Ds of dodge ball, as identified by Patches O’Houlihan in the 2004 movie “DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story,” came to life the morning of June 15 at Robert B. Turner Elementary School, according to a press release.
“The school’s gym was filled that morning with a lot of diving, dodging, dipping, ducking and dodging again as Kentucky State University’s Thoroughbred dodge ball team came to Lawrenceburg to take on Anderson County’s best two dodge ball teams: Sand Spring Baptist Church and the Marching Bearcats,” event organizers said.
Kentucky State University took home the title of Dodgeball Team winner of 2013, with Sand Spring Baptist Church placed second and following close behind was the Marching Bearcats.
Helping Hands—Heart of Community sponsored the tournament as a fundraiser for Anderson County Relay for Life.
The event is scheduled to be held again in April 2014 along with tournaments for volleyball and 3-on-3 basketball teams, according to the press release.
