Recently, the local Rite Aid store hit a personal best of raising more than $1,700 for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
The local hospital that receives this money is the UK Children’s Hospital. The store hit this milestone through the generosity of all the community and a sizable donation from the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 34 in Lawrenceburg.
When Melissa Dotson, owner of Custom Cuts Hair Salon located next to Rite Aid, heard of the fundraising efforts, she sprang into action and contacted her fellow American Legion colleagues.
She was able to make sure the store hit its goal of $1,500 and in turn, ensure the two managers followed up on their promises to wear a dress if the goal was met.
Through good spirit and community fellowship store manager John Hodgkin and pharmacy manager Kyle Burleson, without hesitation or pride, put on the dresses to accept the donation of $500 from the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 34 on May 23.
