Rue wins Todd Louis

Musgrave Scholarship

Jamie Rue of Lawrenceburg has been awarded the Todd Louis Musgrave Scholarship to attend Bluegrass Community & Technical College for the 2016-17 academic year.

This endowed scholarship was established in 2001 by Tom and Zena Musgrave in memory of Todd L. Musgrave.

This renewable scholarship shall be awarded to students who are business majors or have concentration in retail or marketing; possess a strong spirit; and a willingness to help others.

The scholarship can be awarded to multiple recipients for second year and can be used for tuition, nooks, and/or other academic support materials.

Schools to host transition program for families

The annual transition fair for families of children with special needs is planned for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Anderson County Health Department.

The event, “Making Connections: Life Planning for Success” is hosted by Anderson County Schools, offers a variety of agencies providing valuable information.

There will also be refreshments and door prizes.

Saffell to participate

in Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week will be marked Oct. 24 to 28 at Saffell Street Elementary School.

There will be activities to teach students about drugs, bullying, and making positive choices in their lives, according to school officials.

The week kicks off on Oct. 24. The theme for Oct. 25 is “We mustache you to remain bully and drug free.” Students may wear mustaches.

On Oct. 26, the theme is “Don’t be a nerd. Keep our school bully- and drug-free. Students may dress as nerds.

The theme for Oct. 27 is “SSE is college and career ready.” Stay drug- and bully-free. Students may wear their favorite college shirt.

On Oct. 28, students may wear their favorite costume to “Scare drugs away.”

Anderson Public Library groundbreaking Oct. 22

The Anderson Public Library will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion project at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 22.

The library is located at 114 N. Main St.

The temporary library location is at 1030 B Industry Road.
